Is Dusk (DUSK) Halal or Haram?

Shariah compliance review of Dusk (DUSK) by Islamic finance scholars at EthicalNode, with separate verdicts for trading and for staking.

Trading verdict: Comfortable

Dusk is a privacy-focused blockchain protocol developed by Dusk Network B.V. in Amsterdam, designed to facilitate the tokenization of real-world assets while ensuring compliance and privacy. It aims to connect traditional finance with decentralized finance, allowing regulated assets to be traded directly from individual wallets. Central to Dusk's innovation is the use of Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs), which enable information verification without disclosure, maintaining privacy on the network. The Dusk team has advanced ZKP technology, creating Piecrust, a custom ZKP virtual machine. Dusk also offers products like Citadel, a ZKP licensing tool that supports compliance with KYC and AML regulations, making it suitable for subscription-based models and identity verification needs. Sharlife.my Analisys: The blockchain's designs are compliant with Shariah principles.

Staking verdict: Questionable

Considering the fact that Dusk is Layer 1 blockchain designed for various business and DeFi solutions, participation in its consensus protocol may raise concerns due to the presence of non-Shariah-compliant elements in the use cases of these solutions. At this moment, we cannot provide an analisys on the permissibility of participation in the consensus protocol until further deeper analysis is conducted with modern scholars. The analisys is similar to the one for Mantra. Additionally, mainnet is coming soon for this protocol. Right now there is no participation is Proof-of-Stake consensus protocol for users.
